Hubert Ray Parrish
Hubert Ray Parrish, 92, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010.
Mr. Parrish was a native of Nash County, the son of the late Charlie Hilliard Parrish and Lucy Ida Lucas Parrish. He was a U.S. Army veteran, proudly serving his country for five years during WWII. He was the long-time owner of Parrish Realty and a former member of East Tenth Street Church of Christ. Mr. Parrish was a member of the Roanoke Rapids Lions Club, the Amvets and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Ray Parrish; six sisters and five brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edith Hope Moore "Cookie" Parrish; his daughter, Cathy Parrish Myers of Youngsville, NC; a granddaughter, Stephanie Hope Myers Spalin of Cary; a grandson, John A. Radford of Franklinton, NC; and three great-grandchildren, Aiden David Spalin, Andrew Michael Spalin, and Addison Hope Spalin, all of Cary.
Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where a memorial service with military honors will be held Wednesday, January 20, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Henry Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
The flag in front of the funeral home flies at half-staff in honor of Mr. Parrish’s service to his country.
